Genentech Inc. Offers Benefits to Gay Domestic Partners: The firm has become the latest high-tech company to provide health benefits to domestic partners of gay employees. As of June 1, all employees will be able to include a partner of the same sex on the company health plan, said G. Kirk Raab, president and chief executive of the San Francisco company. "We're doing this because we believe it is the right thing to do," he said. The policy applies only to an unrelated partner of the same sex who lives with a Genentech employee in an "exclusive, committed relationship" and shares financial obligations, the company said.
