CITY 3-A PLAYOFFS : Lincoln Has Enough to Beat Dorsey : Baseball: Erami and Castaneda provide all the offense the top-seeded Tigers need to advance to the second round.

It's hard to say which was more of a surprise: Dorsey making the playoffs after going winless (0-38) its last two seasons, or Lincoln being the No. 1 seed after an early exit in the first round last year.

Although Dorsey lost to Lincoln, 4-0, in a first-round playoff game Friday at Rose Hills Playground, the Dons proved their surprising season was no fluke.

"We lost by only four runs to the top-seeded team," Dorsey Coach John Turner said. "We only have three seniors on this team and we will be back next season."

Lincoln's Jorge Erami and Cesar Castaneda provided all the offense the Tigers needed. Erami's two-out single in the first inning drove in two runs. In the fourth inning, after Dorsey pitcher Reggie Douglas balked home a run to make the score 3-0, Castaneda hit a double to drive in Lincoln's final run.

Dorsey outhit Lincoln, 6-4, but could not capitalize against starter and winner Hector Arroyo.
