Just Call Him TAFKAP

July 03, 1994

As I was listening to some music at the house one evening last week, my roommate walked in and declared: "That sounds like Weird Androgynous Sign."

So I suggest that instead of "the pop star formerly known as . . . " or "we once knew him as . . . ," perhaps the easiest way to handle his logo-identification would be to call him Weird Androgynous Sign.

Thank you, Messrs. Marking and Doodle (a.k.a. B. Dirk Yarborough and Jim Levisee). The editors, taking a cue from Chris Willman's Times review last week of the VH-1 Honors show, are partial to the name TAFKAP (The Artist Formerly Known as Prince).
