CLAREMONT: A Los Angeles man who allegedly pretended to have a handgun in order to rob a gas station June 30 was arrested an hour later after the passenger in his car tipped off police. Marshall Mitchell, 35, allegedly entered the station at 699 E. Foothill Blvd. at about 11:40 p.m. and robbed it of $500. He then returned to his car, in which an acquaintance was waiting. Mitchell then dropped off his passenger in San Bernardino. The passenger called police.

GLENDORA: The Mann movie theatre at 1321 Grand Ave. was robbed June 28 by two armed men, one of whom wielded a knife, the other a revolver. The robbers ordered employees to get on the ground and demanded they open the safe, police said. The robbers also dragged several female employees by their hair and one suspect hit an employee with his revolver. Police arriving on the scene at about 10:15 p.m. arrested three suspects as they were driving out of the theater parking lot. Dwayne Anthony Tucker, 30, of Azusa and Sheldon Dajun Jones, 18, of Redlands are being held in Glendora City Jail on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. In addition, Nancy Julissa Chavez, 22, of Baldwin Park, driver of the car, is being held on suspicion of armed robbery.

EL MONTE: A 20-year-old El Monte man was shot and killed outside a 7-Eleven store at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The victim, whose name was not released, was standing with three friends in the parking lot of the store at 3243 Santa Anita Ave. when they were confronted by a man in his 20s, deputies said. The victim and his friends got into the victim's 1983 gray Buick Regal and attempted to drive away. The suspect fired four rounds into the car; one of the rounds struck the driver in the upper torso. He died at the scene. The victim's friends were not injured. Deputies believe the incident may have been gang-related.

ROWLAND HEIGHTS: A 16-year-old Florida boy who was wanted in connection with a double murder in Pompano Beach, Fla., was arrested Sunday night at a local motel. The youth allegedly shot two women, ages 19 and 20, on Friday, police said. He had been a passenger in a car with them; his relationship to them and the motive are unknown. Florida police had heard that the boy was headed to Los Angeles to visit friends. Sheriff's deputies arrested the youth at the Motel 6 at Nogales Avenue and the Pomona Freeway at about 8:50 p.m.

WEST COVINA: Two West Covina detectives flew to Greenville, Miss., last week to retrieve a murder suspect who allegedly shot two men execution-style in West Covina on June 16. Emmanuel Gaisie, 23, of Covina was wanted in connection with the killing of Cedrick Delane Washington, 22, of Covina and the shooting of Shawn Mark Alexander, 23, of Placentia, who survived a bullet wound to the head.
