BALDWIN PARK: A 14-year-old Baldwin Park boy was arrested Monday in El Monte after he allegedly used a gun to steal a car and other property two days earlier in Baldwin Park. The youth, whose name was not released, had allegedly stolen a car, a wallet and a pager from Jose Luis Alcala, a 23-year-old West Covina resident who was washing his car at a coin-operated carwash when the incident occurred at 3:10 a.m. Saturday. The suspect was spotted in the car at about 1 a.m. Monday in the 2500 block of Parkway Drive in El Monte, police said. They are searching for a second suspect.

LA PUENTE: A 2-year-old La Puente boy was killed Monday morning when his mother's car was broadsided by another car. The toddler, Adrian Cardenas, was wearing a seat belt but was not in a baby car seat as required by state law when the car he was riding in was struck at Amar Road and Valinda Avenue. The mother, Dorothy Cardenas, and two other children in the car, a 4-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries, California Highway Patrol officers said. Cardenas was headed eastbound on Amar and was making a left turn at Valinda when she was hit by a station wagon driven by Ismael Gonzales Frias, 21, of West Covina. CHP officers are trying to determine who was at fault and are looking for witnesses to the 10:25 a.m. accident. Frias sustained minor injuries. Anyone with information may the CHP at (818) 338-1164.

POMONA: A 2-year-old Pomona boy drowned Monday evening in the family swimming pool. The body of Luis Martinez was found in the pool in the 600 block of Hobson Street at about 6:30 p.m., police said. He apparently had entered the back yard through an unlocked gate, police said.

WEST COVINA: A Wells Fargo bank was robbed of about $500 Saturday morning. The bank at 1540 West Covina Parkway was robbed at 10:45 a.m. by a man in his mid-30s who told a teller he had a gun and told her to hand over all of the money in her drawer. He then walked out the front door and, according to witnesses, got into an older model white station wagon, police said.
