Kidnaper of Wynn's Daughter Sentenced

August 09, 1994| Associated Press

LAS VEGAS — A California man convicted in the kidnaping of casino mogul Steve Wynn's daughter, Kevin, was sentenced to 19 years in prison Monday and ordered to make restitution on about $550,000 in ransom money that is still missing.

U.S. District Judge Lloyd George, in imposing the maximum sentence possible under federal guidelines, called the conduct of defendant Jacob Sherwood "brutalizing" and "outrageous."

Sherwood, 23, of Sacramento, and Ray Cuddy, 47, of Las Vegas were convicted in the 1993 kidnaping. Kevin Wynn was released unharmed after her father paid a ransom of $1.45 million, of which about $900,000 has been recovered.
