ORANGE COUNTY BRIEFLY

August 10, 1994

US Facilities Corp.: The Costa Mesa insurance company posted a profit of $761,000, or 13 cents a share, for the second quarter. That was down from earnings of $1.8 million, or 31 cents a share, for the comparable 1993 quarter. The company attributed the decline to $1.5 million in expenses related to an unsolicited takeover attempt by Fidelity National Financial Inc. and a subsequent proxy fight, as well as a one-time restructuring charge of $654,000. Revenue showed a gain of 18% to $32.2 million from $27.2 million. Profit for the first six months of 1994 dropped to $1.4 million, or 23 cents a share, from $3.7 million, or 62 cents a share, for the first half of 1993. Six-month revenue rose 18% to $62.7 million from $53.2 million.
