A workshop to help senior citizens avoid frauds and scam operations will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday on the plaza level of First African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2270 S. Harvard Blvd.

The free workshop, "How to Outwit a Con Artist," teaches how to spot phony door-to-door and telephone sales pitches for real estate, loans and goods and services. Workshop facilitator John T is himself a reformed scam artist.

The program is sponsored by FAME Renaissance's employment development department and Pru Care 1, the senior care division of Prudential Life Insurance.
