Long Beach harbor commissioners have approved a 5% pay raise for the port's chief administrator, making him the second-highest-paid city official.
The five-member commission voted 4-1 last week to raise Executive Director Steven R. Dillenbeck's salary from $131,841 to $138,393.
With the increase, Dillenbeck ranks only behind City Manager James C. Hankla, who earns $155,721 a year. Dillenbeck, 54, has headed the port of Long Beach since 1991. He has been with the agency since 1987.
