August 20, 1994|Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS — A forklift operator punctured a barrel of acid, creating fumes that caused minor injuries to 23 warehouse workers and three firefighters. About 11 gallons of cresylic acid spilled from the 15-gallon drum on Thursday. The odorless acid, used in plastics and disinfectants, is fatal if inhaled in large doses, officials said.
