BRIEFLY : Education: Student Is Arkansas-Bound

August 25, 1994

A West Los Angeles high school student has received a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Arkansas.

The university awarded Mark Landsberg, 18, a Chancellor's Scholarship, a four-year, merit-based $9,548 scholarship that covers tuition, fees, housing and a stipend for books and materials.

Landsberg will begin classes at the university's Fulbright School of the Arts and Sciences at the end of the month.

He was named a National Merit Finalist and scored in the top percentile of the Scholastic Achievement Test. He has not decided on a major.

The University High School graduate said he is ready for a change. "Eighteen years is enough (to live in Los Angeles). I thought I'd try something new, and I've never seen real snow; only Knott's Berry Farm's snow machine."
