May to Attend Long Beach State

Misty May of Newport Harbor High has orally committed to play women's volleyball at Long Beach State, her father, Butch, said.

May, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter who was selected Times Orange County player of the year last season, also was recruited by Stanford, UCLA, USC and Hawaii.

Jenny Lee of Fullerton shot a three-over-par 75 in the second round of the PGA Junior Championship at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

In the girls' competition, Lee had a two-round total of 144. Lisette Lee of Kenner, La., was the leader at 142.

In the boys' competition, Irvine's Jimmy Lee shot a six-over 78. His 150 total was 13 strokes behind leader Joel Kribel of Pleasanton.

Jeff McGraw of Fullerton shot a par 72 for a 143 total and is five strokes out of the leadafter two rounds of the Southwestern Junior at the Championship Golf Course of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Placentia's John Lee was one stroke behind McGraw. Jay Osmon of Alamosa, Colo., with a second-round 69, was the leader at 138.

Other county players competing are John Park of Fullerton with a 148, Yorba Linda's Ryan Donovan (153), Orange's Kelly Craig (154) and Santa Ana's Chris Bieler (157).
