Digital Equipment Cutting PC Prices: The Maynard, Mass., company said it will cut prices by 2% to 26% on about 60 systems in its two families of personal computers. The moves are in response to recent price cuts by industry leader Compaq Computer Corp. and International Business Machines Corp., a spokesman for Digital Equipment Corp. said. The reductions, which take effect Tuesday, affect most of the personal computers in the Value and Premium families, the company said. Models using Intel Corp.'s i486 microprocessor will cost between $1,049 and $2,699, down from $1,099 to $2,924. Several more-powerful models, which use Intel's Pentium chip, will cost between $2,924 and $3,274, down from $3,474 to $3,924.
