Countywide : Children's Health Fair at Zoo Today

August 27, 1994|LESLEY WRIGHT

Children can visit the animals and get free immunizations and health screening when Western Medical Center holds its fifth annual Kids Care Fair at the Santa Ana Zoo today.

Children will be admitted free to the zoo, in Prentice Park, 1801 E. Chestnut Ave. The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the zoo closes at 6 p.m. Parents will have to pay the normal charge.

All immunizations required for school attendance--measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, meningitis and hepatitis--will be offered to children as young as 2 months old. A tuberculosis skin test, and requisite follow-up, will also be available.

Children who bring their favorite stuffed animal can get a free shot for their friend as well, said the center's Pamela Pimentel.

The medical center advises parents to get the first series of immunization shots for their children before they turn 2.

After the health work-ups, children can visit a "Happy Booth," that will offer stickers, face painting and other treats.
