RECORD RACK

August 28, 1994|Connie Johnson

* 1/2 Jamie Foxx, "Peep This," Fox. This comedian-turned-singer from TV's "In Living Color" at least has more vocal muscle than comedian-turned-singer Eddie Murphy, but this too-tame production doesn't exploit it. Except for "Don't Let the Sun Go Down," a beautiful ballad that evokes the emotionalism of a '70s-era Donny Hathaway, Foxx is trapped by a conservative approach that is light years from his savvier TV persona.

New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
