Rob Johnson's status remained uncertain Wednesday.

The USC senior quarterback worked out in shorts, throwing passes on the sideline. Johnson sprained his right ankle Saturday against Oregon and on Monday said he will be ready to play Saturday at Oregon State.

But Coach John Robinson said Johnson will not play "if he isn't close to 100%."

Portland Oregonian columnist Dwight Jaynes says the dump-Rich Brooks crowd at Oregon still isn't happy, even after the Ducks' 22-7 upset of USC on Saturday.

Brooks, in his 18th Oregon season, has a 85-107-4 record.

Jaynes said an Oregon fan, while enjoying the victory over USC, commented to him:

"Now we'll never get rid of Brooks!"

USC's longest winning streak against Pac-10 schools is against Oregon State--20 in a row. Oregon State's last victory in the series was at Corvallis in 1967, 3-0 in the mud, in a year USC won the national championship. . . . Of USC's 11 possessions Saturday against Oregon, three penetrated the Oregon 40. In addition, the Trojans converted only four of 16 third downs.
