SOUTHLAND ROUNDUP : Coleman Carries Northridge

Shaun Coleman ran for 94 yards and three touchdowns to lead Cal State Northridge (3-2) to a 40-14 victory over Sonoma State (1-5) Saturday at Rohnert Park, Calif. Jim Rose picked off three Sonoma State passes and Mark Harper rushed for a game-high 129 yards in 17 carries for Northridge (3-2). Sonoma's Grant Parr, substituting for injured starter Ryan Merrill, was six of 20 for 45 yards and had four interceptions. . . . Chapman quarterback Curtis Robinson rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 183 yards and two touchdowns as the Panthers defeated Azusa Pacific, 59-18, in a nonconference game at Azusa. Robinson, a junior transfer from Citrus College, had first-half rushing touchdowns of 39, one and 81 yards and second-half passing scores of 50 to Darnell Rubin and 67 to Oscar Ford for the Panthers (3-0-1). Azusa Pacific drops to 1-4. . . . Claremont-Mudd quarterback John Shipp passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two more in a 49-28 SCIAC victory over Whittier at Claremont. Claremont is 1-3, 1-1; Whittier 0-4, 0-2. Claremont receiver Mike Cook caught seven passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Whittier's Danny Reynolds ran for 136 yards and one touchdown. . . . Eric Christensen kicked a 22-yard game-winning field goal with 4:41 left to play to lift Menlo (1-4) to a 22-21 victory over Redlands (2-1-1) at Menlo. The victory snapped Menlo's 18-game winless streak. . . . Antonio Warren rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown to lead Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (2-3) to a 35-30 victory over host San Francisco State (2-4).
