Man Arrested at Nicole Simpson Home

October 10, 1994

A San Diego County man allegedly broke a window at Nicole Brown Simpson's Brentwood condo and attempted to kick an officer during questioning, police said Sunday.

Mark Street, 31, of Vista was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and assault Saturday and taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric tests. The hospital released him to police custody after he was found to be mentally competent, said Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Arthur Holmes.

Officers went to the Bundy Drive condominium at 9:30 p.m. when the property manager reported that he had made a citizen's arrest, Holmes said. Police found Street drunk and mumbling that he was upset about Nicole Simpson's death and that he was her boyfriend, the officer said.

While Street was being booked, he kicked at an officer, but the officer was not hurt, Holmes said. Street was being held Sunday at the West Los Angeles police station in lieu of $250 bail, Holmes said.

O.J. Simpson, who has pleaded not guilty, is being tried on charges that he murdered his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Lyle Goldman.
