OSLO : Nobel Looks Mideast

The Middle East leaders who negotiated peace between Israel and the Palestinians are mentioned most often as favorites for the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize, which will be announced in the Norwegian capital Friday .

Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat were among the 117 men, women and organizations nominated.

Dark horse candidates include the Salvation Army, the International Scouting Organization, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Northern Ireland Catholic leader John Hume.
