October 12, 1994|SHELBY GRAD

High school students from the county will participate in the Career Opportunity Fair on Oct. 26 in Pomona.

The fair is designed to give vocational education students a chance to meet potential employers and learn about the job market.

A variety of companies and organizations are scheduled to attend the event including the Chrysler Corp., Toyota, the Auto Club and the Army and Navy. It is sponsored by National Hot Rod Assn.

Students will learn about what jobs are available and the kinds of skills and education needed to get hired, said Angie Brown, spokeswoman for the association.

Students and teachers from more than a dozen Orange County high schools are scheduled to attend the event, Brown said.

Students from University High School in Irvine, Edison High School in Huntington Beach and Estancia High School in Costa Mesa, as well as schools in Anaheim, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Lake Forest, La Habra, Fullerton, Mission Viejo and Villa Park, will attend.

The fair will include a hot-rod car show and a contest in which schools show off their automotive repair skills.
