SMALL FACES

October 16, 1994

Prince's long-unreleased, much-bootlegged "Black Album" may finally be coming out officially. Warner Bros. Records has tentative plans to release it next month. A finished new album, "The Gold Experience," has apparently been pushed back to next year amid uncertainty as to whether it will be issued by Warners or by NPG, the company that has handled releases by the mystery man under his " " identity. . . .

Meanwhile, the former Prince joined Nona Gaye in a new anti-gun public service TV spot. Gaye's father, singer Marvin Gaye, died after being shot by his own father 10 years ago. . . .

Megadeth fans might want to track down copies of the band's new bio accompanying press mailings for the new "Youthanasia" album--it was written by macabre author Dean Koontz, with tongue firmly in cheek. In one passage he notes that metal band bios are required to use words like thrashmasters , grizzly-throated and raging maniac , after which he simply writes, "Okay, there, I've used them." . . .

Beck is set to start recording his second Geffen album, which could be out by mid-'95. . . . Also about to start a new album is White Zombie.
