SOUTHLAND ROUNDUP : Redlands' Figueroa Secures Victory With Late Scores

Matt Figueroa scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead Redlands to a 23-7 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Cal Lutheran on Saturday at Redlands. Figueroa scored on runs of 67 and two yards to secure the victory for the Bulldogs (3-1-1, 2-0) over the Kingsmen (1-4, 1-3).

Darren MacLellan rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns in 28 carries to lead La Verne (5-0, 3-0) to a 35-6 victory over Whittier (0-5, 0-3) in a SCIAC game at Whittier. . . . John Shipp completed 16 of 31 passes for 326 yards and five touchdowns to lead Claremont-Mudd (2-3) to a 34-21 nonconference victory over Menlo (1-5) at Claremont. . . . Vince Moiso threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead San Diego, 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Pioneer League, to its fourth victory in a row, 28-16, over Evansville (2-4, 0-3) in a league game at San Diego. Moiso, who completed nine of 20 passes for 170 yards, scored on a 17-yard run and threw scoring passes of three yards to Jermaine Rucker and 44 yards to Evan Hlavacek as San Diego piled up 431 yards in offense. . . . Ed Williams had 116 yards and one touchdown in a school-record 38 carries to lead St. Mary's (6-1) to a 20-10 nonconference victory over Cal State Northridge (3-3) at St. Mary's. . . . Davin Lundquist gained 105 yards and scored twice to lead host Occidental (5-0) to a 30-20 nonconference victory over Chapman (3-1-1).
