Springman Named Coach

October 19, 1994

Bill Springman, a former assistant at Pepperdine University, has been hired as baseball coach at Oak Park High. Springman succeeds Mike Bolyog, who resigned in June after three seasons.

Oak Park also announced that Zoran Lomic will move from girls' to boys' soccer coach. Ted Eggleston, a former youth coach, will replace Lomic as girls' coach.

Football

The condition of Peter Forlano of Notre Dame High is improving, but the player remains hospitalized after undergoing brain surgery last week, Forlano's mother said.

Forlano, a starting senior tackle, was admitted to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank on Oct. 7 after experiencing dizziness, numbness of the right arm and blurred vision.

Doctors determined that Forlano was struck by a severe bacterial sinus infection, Alice Forlano said. But he has regained movement of his arm and his condition continues to improve.

Westlake High receiver Billy Miller said doctors prescribed a few days of rest for his sore left knee, but he expects to play in Friday's key Marmonte League game against Royal. Miller injured his knee last week against Newbury Park.

Cross-Country

The Thousand Oaks High boys' cross-country team has dropped from second to fifth in The Harrier magazine's national poll. Hart has moved from 23rd to 13th.

Thousand Oaks' girls' team is ranked 15th.
