19-Years-to-Life Term for Murder Conviction

A Santa Ana man was sentenced Friday to 19 years to life in prison plus an additional life term for an August, 1993, shooting in which one man was killed and another injured.

Jose V. Bravo, 20, killed Carlos de la Cruz, 22, of Santa Ana and wounded Adrian Gonzalez, 25, also of Santa Ana, after a dispute at a party, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Carolyn Kirkwood.

Santa Ana Municipal Judge Gary P. Ryan, who presided over the case on special assignment, sentenced Bravo to 19 years to life in prison for his second-degree murder conviction and an additional life term for the attempted murder.

Bravo's attorney could not be reached for comment Friday.
