Four-Star Movies : 'The Court Jester'

October 30, 1994|Michael Wilmington

Written and directed by Norman Panama and Melvin Frank, this 1956 spoof of knight errantry and errant knights is the creme de la creme of Danny Kaye (pictured). Even Errol Flynn might have envied Kaye: jousts and jests are juggled jauntily, swashes are buckled and unbuckled swashingly, and Kaye's toes and tongue were never livelier. All together now: "The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle ..." (AMC Friday at 2 p.m.)
