Hart's 42-7 Rout Sets Up a Showdown for Title

SANTA CLARITA — Steve McKeon completed 14 of 17 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns and fullback Ted Iacenda scored four touchdowns to lead Hart High to a 42-7 victory over Burroughs in a Foothill League game Friday night at College of the Canyons.

It was the first football game played at Canyons this season because the school's stadium was damaged in the Jan. 17 earthquake.

The victory sets up a showdown between Hart and Saugus next week. Hart is 9-0 and 3-0 in league play. Saugus, also 3-0 in league play, had a bye Friday.

Iacenda, who finished with 58 yards in 12 carries, had a two-yard scoring run and two one-yard scoring runs.

Iacenda also caught a three-yard touchdown pass from McKeon, which gave Hart a 28-0 lead with 1 minute 27 seconds left in the first half.

Hart increased its lead to 35-0 when J.B. Nelson returned the second half kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.

Burroughs (2-7, 0-3) scored on a 16-yard pass play from quarterback Mike Barrett to wide receiver Scott Boldvich with 2:47 left in the third quarter. Boldvich finished with six catches for 111 yards. Barrett completed 12 of 30 passes for 220 yards, 171 in the second half.

Hart scored on five of its first six possessions.

The Indians took a 14-0 lead when McKeon connected with wide receiver Tim Waddell on a 19-yard pass play with 4:19 left in the first quarter.
