LAKEWOOD — Orange Lutheran rushed for 293 yards and four touchdowns to defeat Brethren Christian, 28-7, in an Olympic League game Saturday night at Artesia High School.

The Lancers (7-2, 3-1 in league), who will play at undefeated Valley Christian on Friday for the league championship, scored on their first possession when Matt Stratton ran in from 32 yards to give Orange Lutheran a 7-0 lead.

Tim Smith's interception on the opening play of the second quarter gave the Lancers the ball on Brethren Christian's 26-yard line. Six plays later, running back Che Holloway scored on a two-yard dive.

Orange Lutheran took a 21-0 third-quarter lead when quarterback Joe Juliano kept the option and ran seven yards into the end zone.

On fourth and two, Brethren Christian (1-8, 0-4) scored when quarterback Ryan Babcock ran 63 yards for a touchdown to cut Orange Lutheran's lead to 21-7.

The Lancers bounced back with an eight-play scoring drive capped by Stratton's second touchdown, a 24-yard run.

The Warriors had one last opportunity to score, driving to Orange Lutheran's seven-yard line, but Smith intercepted Babcock in the end zone with 3:54 left to play.
