BEATING AFTERMATH: Still reeling from the Halloween night attacks on two Coto de Caza men by teens inside their gated community (E1), homeowners associations continue to meet to discuss security. . . . Resident Robert Follman says they're looking for long-term solutions: "Is there anything we can do to make this a better place? We're looking to go beyond the first emotional quick fix."

MOVING HISTORY: If you haven't seen the majestic Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, Knott's Berry Farm has the next best thing. Its replica is now on display through the weekend near its Independence Hall. It's half the size of the original, but still large enough that you can read the 58,191 names of those who died in the Vietnam War. . . . The wall travels around the country when it's not at Knott's. A candlelight vigil will be held there today at 5:30 p.m.

SATELLITE DADA: She cannot attend the Archives of American Art event held in her honor in Laguna Beach this weekend. Beatrice Wood, the renowned Mama of Dada, at age 101, doesn't get around like she used to. But she's still creating beautiful earthenware, and plans to accept its 1994 American Artist award via TV hookup. . . . She had fun writing to organizers: "I've sent a telegram to heaven to keep me alive until then. I'll have my hair dyed, and visit Elizabeth Arden's health farm to have my figure remade."

HARVESTING ART: Barry Howe of Laguna Hills loves baseball stadiums. The professional photographer has put together a collection of dozens of photos of major league ball parks, including the old Ebbets Field and Polo Grounds in New York. He's one of 250 arts and crafts exhibitors who will show their wares at the Harvest Festival this weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center. With a can or box of food, you can get $1 off the $6 admission price for the three-day show, which draws nearly 20,000 annually.
