Scott and Mojica Named Co-Coaches at Verdugo Hills

Don Scott Jr. and Sal Mojica have been named co-coaches of the Verdugo Hills High football team, Principal Gary Turner announced Thursday.

They will replace Buzz Johnson, who announced his resignation last week, citing health and personal reasons.

Verdugo Hills, which on Thursday lost its season finale against Hollywood, 21-12, finished 1-7-2 . The Dons were 5-23-3 in Johnson's three seasons as coach.

Scott and Mojica coached Verdugo Hills' frosh-soph team to a 9-1 record this season.

Scott is the son of Verdugo Hills Athletic Director Don Scott Sr.

Don Scott Jr. graduated from Verdugo Hills in 1985 and was a linebacker at Glendale College and Cal State Northridge.
