Hunt for 3 Scuba Divers Off Florida Halted

MIAMI — The Coast Guard suspended a search for three Canadian scuba divers missing for seven days after their boat sank, officials said Friday.

The 23,500-square-mile search in the Gulf of Mexico failed to find Omar Schearer, 26, Kent Munro, 25, and Dave Madott, 25, all from Mississauga, Ontario.

The missing trio and a fourth man, Jeff Wandich, 27, were on a diving trip about 55 miles from Ft. Myers, Fla., when their 25-foot boat went down. Wandich managed to swim to a lighthouse platform, from which he was rescued by helicopter.
