Iconography

November 13, 1994

Chico Marx isn't around, so I'll be the one to ask. I've been looking at the upper right-hand corner of Page 2 of the Sunday Calendar for months now, and I'd like to know:

Why a duck?

CARLO PANNO

Burbank

Editor's note: When I bought the redesign, the duck came with it.

I have been troubled by the picture of a skeleton head with a pencil in its mouth in the upper right-hand corner of the Letters page.

It seems to be a very dark and dismal picture for this section of the paper. What is the reason for it and can't you change it?

ROSEMARY C. WATSON

Los Angeles

Ditto for the pencil guy.
