OUTLOOK

Holman replaces Richard Bossenmeyer, who resigned two weeks ago to become an assistant coach with Rapid City in the Continental Basketball Assn. Holman was an assistant for the Panthers and inherits a team that lost almost everyone. Last season's memories might have to last a while. The Panthers finished tied with Santa Ana Valley for the league title and reached the I-A quarterfinals. But everyone who was anyone is gone from that team. This year, the Panthers start with low expectations. Garcia and Lauridsen saw plenty of playing time a year ago, but will have to contribute more. Paz will also take the lead; he will run the team at point guard. He did it last season for a junior varsity team that finished second in league. Bell is considered a strong defensive player, so he will see plenty of time. The future does look good, as Dotson and Lein will gain lots of experience this season. The bottom line: Last year was a gas, but with a new coach and new players, this year will take some doing.
