SOUTH-CENTRAL : Reward Offered in Death of Woman, 77

November 20, 1994

The Los Angeles City Council is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver who ran down and killed area resident Edna Kemper, 77.

A car, believed to be a black Camaro, jumped the curb and struck and killed Kemper as she was walking along South Broadway near the intersection of 70th Street about 5:30 a.m. last Monday.

"Mrs. Kemper was an active, caring woman who was a tireless contributor to the community," Councilwoman Rita Walters said at the City Council meeting Wednesday.

Kemper was president of the Delecta Dames Charity Club and a volunteer at the Fred Jordan Mission, organizations that help homeless and needy lower-income families with food and monetary support.

Anyone with information is asked to call Los Angeles police Detectives Tia Morris or Richard Lopez at the Central Traffic Division, (213) 485-3111.
