Antelope Valley Ends With a Bang

November 20, 1994|BRYAN RODGERS | SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

APPLE VALLEY — Antelope Valley College fans could only shake their heads and wonder.

Was this the same team that had looked so miserable at times this season?

Apparently not, as Antelope Valley (3-7, 3-5) concluded its season in a big way with a 60-37 rout of Victor Valley (2-7-1, 1-6-1) in a Foothill Conference football game Saturday night at Apple Valley High.

Quarterback Michael Gleich and Troy Searcy highlighted an Antelope Valley offense that gained 576 yards and averaged 9.3 yards per play.

Gleich finished 12 of 16 for 302 yards, and connected with Searcy for three third-quarter touchdowns.

Searcy scored on pass plays of 56, 64, and 11 yards, and tied a school record for touchdown receptions in a game. He had four catches totaling 171 yards.

Gleich's 302 passing yards just missed Antelope Valley's school record. Marty Washington had 314 in a 1991 game.

Roosevelt Miller scored on a six-yard run and rushed for 106 yards in 12 carries. Christopher Brown added touchdown runs of 21 and seven yards.
