Don't Call Them Oldies VERDINE WHITE, Verdine White, bassist, is an original member of Earth, Wind & Fire, which formed in 1971. With the group, he has earned more than 50 gold and platinum albums, six Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and last year was inducted into the NAACP's Hall of Fame. White co-wrote Earth, Wind & Fire classics such as "Fantasy" and "That's the Way of the World."
Not a Shining Chapter in ACLU History CARL B. PEARLSTON JR., Carl B. Pearlston Jr., an attorney in Torrance, was on the board of directors of the Southern California ACLU from 1966 to 1975. He has been a member of the Southern Regional Board of the Anti-Defamation League since 1975 and serves on its executive committee
