Arson is suspected in a fire that damaged a coaches' office and the boys' locker room at Colina Intermediate School in Thousand Oaks, officials said Tuesday.

"The fire was set by human hands in the coaches' office," Ventura County Fire Department Investigator David Schovanec said. There were no suspects yet in the arson investigation, he said.

Principal Michael Waters said school officials discovered the damage Tuesday morning when they returned to school after the long holiday weekend.

"The whole coaches' office was completely gutted," Waters said. "We're very disappointed."

Waters said the locker room suffered smoke damage from the fire, which apparently burned itself out.

He said that the coaches' office will be closed indefinitely, and that he did not know of any suspects or motive.

A Fire Department spokeswoman said total damage was estimated at $6,000.
