THOUSAND OAKS : Commissioner Seeks Seat on City Council

February 06, 1995|MATTHEW MOSK

A Thousand Oaks planning commissioner became the first candidate to announce his intentions to run in the June special election to fill a vacant seat on the Thousand Oaks City Council.

Forrest Frields, 52, said he was dismayed by the continued dissension among the four council members. He said he would campaign with the message that he could provide a steadying influence on the council.

The 24-year Thousand Oaks resident said he knows of at least seven others contemplating a bid for the council seat vacated by Frank Schillo, who was elected to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.

Frields, who was Schillo's appointee to the Planning Commission, said he hopes for a small group of candidates and urges competitors to avoid the vitriol that marred November's election.
