SIMI VALLEY : City Council to Vote on Housing Proposal

February 26, 1995|SCOTT HADLY

After a two-week delay, the Simi Valley City Council will vote Monday on a 416-unit housing development proposed for one of the last vacant properties in the city's flatlands.

The vote to approve the project was delayed to allow the developer, Griffin Industries Inc., to rework plans for off-street parking for residents of the development. Approval by the council would pave the way for the company to begin work on the development by late summer or early fall.

The single-family houses and condominiums would be built on part of the 67-acre vacant site between Sinola and Madera roads. Plans to build a post office next to the development on Los Angeles Avenue have already been approved.

The field is also the site of the annual Simi Valley Days.
