Anti-Gang Raiders Arrest 16 Men, 5 Juveniles, Seize Drugs

ANAHEIM — Five juveniles and 16 young men were arrested in an early morning raid Thursday at the homes of reputed gang members, authorities said.

Three guns, drugs and drug paraphernalia were seized during the three-hour operation involving 86 investigators. These included law officers of the Anaheim Police Department and parole and probation agents from Orange County and the state, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Craig Hunter.

The searches were made in an effort to reduce the activities of three area gangs that have prompted many calls to the police in the past several months, Hunter said.

The 21 people arrested were being held on suspicion of a variety of offenses, including possession of an assault weapon, possession of narcotics and probation or parole violation. Their names were not available Thursday.
