First Interstate Takes Over First Trust Bank Deposits: The more than 26,000 federally insured depositors of Ontario-based First Trust Bank, whose 14 branches were closed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. on Friday, will automatically become depositors in First Interstate Bank of California, which assumed the accounts and will reopen the branches under the First Interstate name. About 180 accounts in the failed bank that exceeded the $100,000 federal insurance limit will not be taken over by First Interstate, though federal regulators said they will make advance payments of up to 70% of those depositors' funds.
