To make green onion curls: Cut onions into 3- to 4-inch lengths, keeping only the white parts. Trim root ends. Lay an onion on cutting board and with thin, sharp knife make 1-inch lengthwise slices all the way around the onion. Repeat for the opposite end, if you want. Soak onions in cold water for an hour or two before serving. Onion ends will open into "blossoms."
