Rock Slides Damage Grand Canyon Pipeline

March 09, 1995| Associated Press

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. — Rockslides caused by heavy rain have damaged trails and the Grand Canyon's main water pipeline, forcing hotel guests to eat off paper plates and cancel hiking trips.

Park Supt. Robert L. Arnberger said Wednesday the national park wouldn't close but its lodges will not take any reservations until the pipeline is repaired. He said that repairs could cost up to $1 million and take six weeks.
