FRESNO — Clovis West High is looking for another solid performance in its version of "On Golden Pond."

With Adrain Williams and Paige Bowie playing leading roles, the Golden Eagles overwhelmed Buena, 67-39, Thursday night.

Clovis West (25-2) will take a 16-game winning streak against No. 1 Mater Dei for the Southern California championship Saturday at The Pond in Anaheim.

Mater Dei beat Crenshaw, 72-57, in the other regional semifinal. The winner will advance to the State finals March 18 at the Oakland Coliseum Arena.

Williams, a slender 6-foot-3 center bound for USC, had 20 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots against a Bulldog team that yielded an average of 35.6 points in five previous postseason games.

Bowie, a 5-11 junior forward, added 22 points as the Golden Eagles continued to roll in the postseason, where they have won five games by an average of 37.4 points.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half with a decisive 12-4 run to take a 51-27 lead with 2:25 left in the third quarter.

Buena Coach Joe Vaughan gave the Golden Eagles a good chance to beat Mater Dei, which split with the Bulldogs (24-4).

"I think they can definitely give Mater Dei a game, because they have size," Vaughan said. "I think size can hurt Mater Dei. If I was them, I would go inside--I tell you that. (Mater Dei doesn't) have anybody inside to stop Williams."

Nicole Greathouse scored 11 points and had nine rebounds and Kara Newman added 10 points for Buena, which had 27 turnovers.
