NBA ROUNDUP : Magic Gets Bitter Taste of Rocky Road

March 16, 1995|From Associated Press

With a playoff berth clinched and still a month to go in the season, the Orlando Magic turns its attention to other things--such as winning on the road.

Uh-oh.

Derrick Coleman scored 36 points and had 11 rebounds Wednesday at East Rutherford, N.J., to lead the Nets, potentially a first-round Orlando opponent, to a 108-99 victory over the Magic, which has lost five of its last seven road games.

The question of youth remains. Orlando is a young team with an attitude.

"Sometimes, it's hard for us to be enthusiastic if we're not playing a San Antonio or New York," Anfernee Hardaway said, "but we can't be doing that."

Chicago 99, Atlanta 86--Pete Myers, who replaced Michael Jordan last season and is the most likely to be replaced if Jordan returns, scored a season-high 14 points in a victory at Chicago.

Indiana 117, Milwaukee 108--Reggie Miller scored 17 of his season-high 40 points in the final quarter to push the Pacers to a victory at home.

NBA Notes

Anthony Mason, ordered from the New York Knick bench during a game, was told by Coach Pat Riley to skip practice Wednesday and may be fined or suspended.
