The Worst Traffic in America

Metro Traffic Control, which calls itself the largest traffic reporting service in America, conducts an annual survey of traffic conditions in the United States. Points are awarded for several factors, including longest rush hours, slowest freeways, the number of miles of freeway construction and the longest drive from a major airport to downtown. The winning worst in 1994 were:

1) New York and Los Angeles (tie)

2) Chicago

3) Seattle

4) Washington, D.C.

5) Boston and Houston (tie)

6) San Francisco Bay area (including San Jose)

7) Cleveland

8) Atlanta and Pittsburgh (tie)
