Agoura's Skieresz to Attend Arizona on a Scholarship

March 22, 1995

Amy Skieresz of Agoura High, a two-time state champion in cross-country, said Tuesday that she will accept a scholarship to the University of Arizona.

Skieresz, the 1994 State Division II cross-country champion and the 1993 Division I winner, chose the Pacific 10 Conference school over Villanova and USC.

Baseball

Cal State Northridge's nonconference game against Pepperdine at Matador Field was canceled Tuesday because of rain and wet grounds.

Miscellany

A report has been filed with the Ventura County District Attorney's office on the man who taped a phone call with Simi Valley High baseball Coach Mike Scyphers, according to Simi Valley police.

Ray Rainer taped a phone conversation in September during which Scyphers allegedly tried to persuade him to send his two sons, Matt and Mike, to Simi Valley instead of Royal. Rainer did not tell Scyphers he was recording the conversation.
