CASSANDRA CAMPBELL

Forward

Marina, Sr.

With 23 goals and 14 assists, Campbell was the Vikings' second-leading scorer. Extremely creative with the ball, she finished as Marina's all-time leader in goals with 67 in her four-year varsity career.

MARCY CROUCH

Defender

Marina, Sr.

Two-time Division I defensive player of the year, Crouch also was valuable on offense. Took the Vikings' corner and free kicks and had six goals and 21 assists. Had school-record 61 assists in career.

SHANNON CUTHBERTSON

Defender

Marina, Sr.

Marked opponents' best offensive player. Shut down El Modena's Kaylee Whitfield, Los Alamitos' Elizabeth Willemse and Simi Valley's Monica Gerardo, the Division I offensive player of the year.

ERICA DeVITIS

Midfielder

Santa Margarita, Sr.

Controlled the center of the field for the Eagles, who ran a precision ball-control offense. Had 16 goals and 13 assists in leading her team to the Sea View League title and the Division I semifinals.

KIMBERLY ENGESSER

Forward

Ocean View, Sr.

Scored a county-high 39 goals and had 18 assists. Led the Seahawks to the Golden West League title and was named league player of the year. Finished with 101 goals and 51 assists in her career.

KRISTEN PALMER

Midfielder

Marina, Sr.

Strong leader who had 27 goals and 13 assists as Vikings extended their unbeaten streak to 61 games. Referee forced her to sit out of game with Esperanza because of knee brace; it was Marina's only tie of season.

NICOLE RESTIVO

Defender

Laguna Hills, Sr.

Division II defensive player of the year, Restivo had two goals and three assists and set up 14 more goals by leading the Hawks' transition from offense to defense. Helped team advance to Division II semifinals.

KATIE RODA

Midfielder

Irvine, Jr.

Dominant on defense and offense, Roda had 14 goals and 12 assists and led the Vaqueros to second place in the Sea View League and to the semifinals of the Southern Section Division I playoffs.

JENNIFER SIMMONS

Goalkeeper

Marina, Sr.

Crucial saves against Santa Margarita kept Vikings from losing Division I semifinal. She finished with 16 shutouts this season and 39 in career. Gave up only two goals in league play, nine during the season.

KAYLEE WHITFIELD

Forward

El Modena, Jr.

With 29 goals and 16 assists, Whitfield helped lead the Vanguards to their second-consecutive Century League title and the Division II semifinals. One of the more explosive players in the county.

ELIZABETH WILLEMSE

Forward

Los Alamitos, Sr.

Two-time Empire League player of the year, she moved with her team to the tougher Sunset League and still thrived. Scored 16 goals and had 15 assists, leading the Griffins to second behind powerhouse Marina.

BOBBY BRUCH

Coach of the year

Marina

In his fourth, and final, season at Marina, Bruch put together his finest team. Expectations were high, and except for a 1-1 tie with Esperanza, the Vikings met them. Only coach to win three consecutive Division I titles.

THE SECOND TEAM

Kelly Dohmann

Defender

Mater Dei, Sr.

Strong outside defender, she helped the Monarchs win their second consecutive South Coast League championship.

Kate Erdei

Defender

Canyon, Sr.

Strong marking back for the Comanches, who gave up only nine goals all season. She will play at Kentucky.

Sharon Gillis

Defender

Fountain Valley, Jr.

Scored 13 goals, including four game-winners, and had three assists for the Barons, who finished third in the tough Sunset League.

Jill Krupoff

Goalkeeper

University, Sr.

Didn't give up a goal in Pacific Coast League play. She helped the Trojans win the league championship.

Annie Luke

Forward

Santa Margarita, Jr.

Active player who had 14 goals and 14 assists for the Eagles, who were the Sea View League champions.

Jessica Lyon

Midfielder

Marina, Sr.

Her runs down the sidelines were an important part of Marina's high-powered offense. She had 10 goals and 10 assists.

Beth Merkle

Midfielder

Mission Viejo, Sr.

South Coast League player of the year, she was the only first-team All-Division I selection from a team that didn't make playoffs.

Stacy Roberts

Midfielder

Laguna Hills, So.

Dominated the center of the field. She scored nine goals and had five assists for the Hawks, who advanced to the Division II semifinals.

Andrea Sievers

Defender

Los Alamitos, Jr.

The key to Los Alamitos' defense. Without her in the lineup, the Griffins lost to Marina, 6-0; with her they lost only 1-0.

Renata Soqui

Defender

Brea Olinda, Sr.

Integral to the Wildcats advancing to the Southern Section Division III semifinals. She shut down the opponents' top player.

Theresa Summa

Midfielder

Trabuco Hills, Sr.

Helped the Mustangs make the transition to the tough South Coast League, where they finished second to Mater Dei.
