Campanis Hospitalized After Strokes

March 25, 1995| Associated Press

PALM SPRINGS — Former Dodger general manager Al Campanis remained in a hospital Friday after having two minor strokes earlier this week, a spokesman for the Palm Springs Suns said.

Campanis, 78, is general manager of the Suns, a member of the first-year Western Baseball League.

Larry Hausner, the team's public relations director, said Campanis is expected to be released from Desert Hospital today.

Campanis had his first stroke at home Tuesday night and his second at the Palm Springs ballpark Wednesday, after which he was hospitalized.

Campanis was fired by the Dodgers in April 1987 after making controversial racial remarks on ABC-TV's "Nightline."
