Bowlin to Succeed Cook at Arco: Atlantic Richfield Co. Chief Executive Mike R. Bowlin will succeed Lodwrick M. Cook as chairman of the Los Angeles-based oil company on July 1, completing a transition of power. Cook, who turns 67 in June, has spent 39 years at Arco and been chairman since 1986. He stepped down as chief executive last year. He will remain a board member. In announcing the change, Cook called Bowlin a dynamic leader, saying, "Our company could not be in better hands." Bowlin, 52, joined Arco in 1969, became president and chief operating officer in 1993 and chief executive in July, 1994, after Cook retired as CEO. Arco shares rose 62.5 cents to $114.875 on the NYSE.
