Transit: Bringing the Red Car Back to Santa Monica Boulevard

March 30, 1995

Recently a fabulous idea came to attention. Why not bring back the Red Car to Santa Monica Boulevard. Since the City Council decided to purchase the boulevard from Caltrans, a window of opportunity opened for the city of West Hollywood. Tracks could be easily laid from La Brea to Doheny. The Red Car would have stops at Plummer Park, City Hall, the soon-to-be-built parking structures and West Hollywood Park. I call upon city officials to allocate funds so a feasibility study can be made. Surely, a feasibility study for the Red Car would not be a waste of money. This will be a social engineering plan that will dazzle our senses and will benefit us financially and socially. I have only one simple request: Please remember it is a Red Car; it is not blue.
